Truck Accident Sends Woman Over A Bridge

woman survives bridge accident

Large trucks on the roadway can be very intimidating to some drivers. In some cases, truck accidents involving cars are inevitable. Just ask 22-year-old Morgan Jade Lake, who miraculously survived an incredible 40-foot drop into the Chesapeake Bay.

The young woman was traveling across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Sandy Point, MD when she noticed a tractor trailer in her rear-view mirror heading full speed ahead…right into her. The large truck hit her from behind sending her car out of control. Before Morgan could regain control of her vehicle the truck hit her a second time, lifting her car up and onto the edge of the bridge. It teetered a little and then plunged 40 feet over the edge into the bay.

The car hit the water so hard that the front and side windows were blown out. Water started to fill the car and Morgan found herself in a fight for life or death. She made a conscious decision that moment: today was not her day to die.

“I visualized my car … took my right hand, and pushed the seat belt, turned to the left side. [The] window was already broken, [and I] went through it, and pushed off to get momentum to get to the surface.”

She was able to free herself from the vehicle that was now submerged in 8 feet of water. With the last bit of strength she had, the woman swam over to a pile of rocks. Thankfully, there was a boater who witnesses the entire incident and stayed with the girl until help arrived.

She was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore where she was listed in critical conditions. This was truly her lucky day because her injuries were not life-threatening. As a matter of fact, she left the hospital with only a sprained ankle, bumps, bruises and of course her life!

“Anybody can be their own superwoman and superman, and with God you can do it,” she said. “I’m just blessed to be here. Blessed to get a second chance at life.”
