Metformin Cancer
Recently, the FDA asked many drug makers to recall Metformin. The popular type-2 diabetes medication contains large amounts of NDMA. Soon, other drug manufacturers pulled their products too.

What Is Metformin?
Metformin is an oral form of diabetes medicine. This medication is designed to control blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes. Brand names of Metformin include Fortamet, Glucophage, Glucophage XR, and Riomet. Anyone taking these medications should talk to their doctor about possible alternatives.
NDMA Contamination
N-Nitrosodimethylamine, or NDMA, is a chemical contaminant introduced during manufacturing. But, companies making Metformin neglected tests for contamination. As a result, patients using Metformin to manage diabetes were exposed to NDMA.

Cancer-Causing Substance
NDMA is a known carcinogen. While NDMA exists naturally in low levels, larger amounts cause cancer. The FDA discovered a problem with medications containing this dangerous carcinogen.
Medications With NDMA
Several medications were linked to NDMA contamination in recent years. Valsartan and Zantac are two other major medications linked to cancer-causing contaminants. Zantac is no longer available for sale. But, for years people were exposed while using these medications.
Product Liability
Companies that manufacture products owe customers a safe product. When a product is unsafe or causes harm, the product manufacturer could be responsible. The law allows people harmed by unsafe products to file a claim for compensation. Additionally, a product liability lawyer can assess your claim and provide guidance on the laws for your situation.
