What Is Vision Zero?

Vision Zero is an international initiative to reduce and eliminate pedestrian traffic fatalities. To do this, cities conduct an intense study of the roads and sidewalks in the city. Then, a plan is put together to improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

Harrisburg Vision Zero Plan

Harrisburg hopes to completely implement it’s Vision Zero plan by 2028. In a first step, the city has begun with making improvements to State Street. State Street is the most dangerous road in the city.
Of course, Vision Zero is a constant improvement plan. Even after 2028 the city will track and make adjustments. When all pedestrian injuries and fatalities are eliminated, Vision Zero is successful.
