Case Study – Car Accident
When Alisha Rhodes got into a car accident on the highway, she didn’t think much of it. There wasn’t a lot of damage. Her car had a scrape on the driver’s side. In fact, she was able to drive away. But, when she started feeling worse she decided to call a Lancaster car accident lawyer.
Minor Car Accident
Alisha and her sister were driving on 222 in Lancaster. Her car was in the slow lane. The traffic slowed down, and so did Alisha. But, a driver in the fast lane was distracted. He didn’t notice the traffic slowed down until it was almost too late. Startled, he swerved into the slow lane to avoid hitting the car in front of him.
But, he didn’t notice Alisha’s car. His car sideswiped Ms. Rhodes’ car and pushed it off the road. She was able to regain control and stopped on the shoulder of the highway. Alisha’s sister called the police to report the accident.
Filing Police Report
Alisha and the other driver spoke to the officer. The police report shows the other driver was at fault. Additionally, the report states no injuries and both vehicles were drive-able.
Pain After A Car Accident
Alisha felt fine for the rest of the day. But when she woke up, she was in pain. She was in so much pain she went to the ER. After checking her over, the ER doctor told her she was sore and it should clear up in a few days.

After visiting the ER, Alisha called us. She explained her situation, and we explained her options. We documented everything and opened a file for her. Since the ER told her she was just sore, we told her we would follow up with her in a few weeks. But, she should call us if her situation changed.
Ready To Settle
Alisha’s insurance told her they were ready to settle her case. She had a damaged car and a visit to the ER. Insurance offered a couple thousand dollars. After all, she had limited tort insurance. Should she take it? The ER told her she would be fine, but we told her to wait.
Small Injury Gets Worse
A month went by, and Ms. Rhodes wasn’t getting better. In fact, she was getting worse. The pain was so bad, Alisha couldn’t work. So, she went to her doctor. The doctor did an MRI and found a fracture and severe bruising on her hip. He recommended physical therapy.
Treatment After A Car Accident
Alisha started physical therapy. After a month of physical therapy, she returned to her doctor. There was no improvement in range of motion or pain. So, her doctor ran a few more tests. It seems Alisha had more injuries than they found in the first MRI.

Alisha needed hip replacement surgery. After the surgery, she was off work for several more months. Even after the surgery healed, Alisha couldn’t work. After 30 years at the same company, she took early retirement.
