Accepting the death of a loved one is always difficult. The empty, cold feeling doesn’t get any better when you realize that the negligent actions of others contributed to their early departure from life. That’s what Timothy Gunther has had to deal with for years.
That is until recently, when he was awarded $3.8 million by a jury for the wrongful death lawsuit in federal court.
This comes from a fatal car accident in which his wife, Susan Gunther, was rear ended by a car transport tractor-trailer on I-83 around York, PA. The collision sent Susan over the highway barrier wall and straight into the path of an oncoming truck.
The trucking company that owned the truck that initially hit her settled for an undisclosed amount of money. The other truck driving company did not settle and was found 25% responsible for the wrongful death that occurred. They payed out $950,000.
It was at the federal level where Susan Gunther’s family was awarded $3.8 million.
